In January this year Chain Cable was ordered through Crown Agents and estimated to cost £1,740 at an exchange of $1 – 1s. 10d. =.

When Crown Agents account was received in August it was found that the Chain had cost £1,961.12.7 at an exchange of $1 = 1s. 4-5/16

The supplementary vote asked for in July has been found insufficient.

Provision made in Estimates (page 24 sub-head 13)....... § 1,600 More attention has been paid to Distilleries etc. in outlying districts. This has entailed more visits and consequently more bus, ferry and tram fares.

Expenditure in 1930 to complete work

Considerably more rock and crowbar work was entailed than was originally anticipated and this will necessitate a Supplementary vote of $500 to meet the final bill.
